Successful makeup artists are not born overnight and require time and the right opportunities to make it to the top. Makeup artists do not commonly require special training, licenses, or schooling to make a name in the industry. Enrolling in a cosmetology school, however, can help a makeup artist build basic skills and techniques. A makeup artist's skills will continue to develop with practice.
