Stylists have always said that because men's watches are just about the most important accessories they can own. Men do not need to buy expensive jewellery, hair pieces, or even handbags like women do, so they really only have a few luxury pieces to choose from. A watch is probably your best option for showing the world that you have both class, style, and taste. However, extravagance stores are jammed full of watch displays, and the price tags attached can be alarming. But do not fret!
There are only a few characteristics you need to look out for when shopping for a watch, and we've got them covered for you below:
First, if you want an all-around, acceptable watch but don't know what sort of bracelet to go for, perhaps think about investing in a stainless-steel one. Stainless-steel is great because not only is it water-proof, it's also incredibly versatile. It looks appropriate in a casual occasion, but could also fit in very well at a more formal event with a fine suit and tie. The same cannot be said of other bracelet types, especially light leathers. These materials are not only susceptible to damage from water, but they grow dated quickly and just don't tend to fit in well in a casual setting. (Can you imagine wearing a leather bracelet while exercising?)
Second, be sure that you choose the right size. One size fits all? Think again. Men's watches look different on differently sized men. If you have larger wrists, don't go for an average sized watch: your girlfriend might think you stole hers! Yes, that's right: to avoid looking as if you're wearing a woman's watch, buy something bigger. There are many larger-faced watches out there, and your retailer should be able to point you in the right direction. The same goes for those with smaller wrists: something "average" sized might look too big, so go for something smaller.
Finally, if you want to invest in something that will last, invest away from crazy colours, patterns, and designs. Every season seems to offer something different, and it can be hard to pry yourself away from something that looks very "now." Trust us, men's watches do change often, and you will not look "now" several months from today if you go with something very of the moment. So go for a classic brown, black, or stainless steel to keep yourself classy forever.
