Ladies Tennis Clothes for Less

As aggressive as many spots may be, they were actually devised as a way to promote peace in Ancient Greece. Warriors laid down their arms and all hostiles ceased during the ancient Olympic Games. Dedicated to the gods, these competitions were staged on the plains of the Greek city of Olympia for more than 12 centuries. Unfortunately, women were not allowed to compete or even to attend these masculine events. The games were held from 776 BC to 392 AD.

When the games were resumed in 1896, the guys once again got it wrong. Women we not invited to the first modern Olympic Games in Athens. Four years later, they decided that the girls should finally be permitted to competed, albeit in a limited number of events. One reason they changed their minds is that women were participating in sports and athletic activities in greater numbers with each passing year.
For most of what we now know as the Victorian Era (1837-1901), most women had no interest in sports. They engaged in inactive games, like croquet, that did not require them to move much. Of course, there was no sportswear at the time, which meant that women wore corsets and petticoats when they played. Restrictive clothing prevented women from participating in more vigorous games and sports, not to mention the fact that most of them were considered unladylike. Then a new game called tennis was invented in the late 19th century in England.
Known as lawn tennis at the time, the sport was considered civil and genteel from the start. It is for this reason that women were permitted to play even in the early days, they just weren't allowed to compete. When first professional tennis tournaments were founded, female players were excluded. But it didn't take long for them to force their way in.
Believe it or not, one of the major obstacles was fashion. Because it was seen as an elegant sport, women were expected to dress as they would on any social occasion, while men were free to wear less restrictive attire. It took forty years in the professional ranks for the first female player to build up the courage to wear a pair of shorts on the court!
Where are we now?
It would be naïve to assume that women enjoy full equality with men when it comes to athletics. However, we have, indeed, come a very long way in a short period of time. A century ago, there was no such thing as ladies tennis clothes or sportswear for women, now they can be found in most pro shops and sporting good stores. At the professional level, the women's game is just as popular as the men's, perhaps more so. Of course, that doesn't mean women look for the same things in ladies tennis clothes that men do in their sportswear.
Female players want clothes that are comfortable, stylish, and functional. Ladies tennis clothing is generally made from synthetic fabrics that are specifically designed for athletic activities. They will not creep and may draw moisture away from the body. These absorbent materials let women play as hard as the guys while retaining their femininity.
An easy and reliable way to save money on ladies tennis clothing is to buy online. Many reputable sellers offer complete lines of sportswear for women at competitive prices. They may even offer shipping discounts on larger orders.
