Great British Hairstyles

The term ‘you always want what you can't have' may be true, but that doesn't mean you can't try! It seems as though all of those incredible hairstyle ideas have already been taken by the stars, and to us Brits, it seems like it's always the Americans who coin the style ideas first. However, that just isn't the case! Here we pay tribute to some of the most well-known British hairstyles.

Starting at the beginning, it is impossible to talk about trademark British hairstyles without mentioning the one and only Twiggy. The 60's fashion icon always stunned with her clothing and natural beauty, but it was her boy-like haircut that set her apart from the others when first being casted. Twiggy admits that originally she wasn't a fan of the cropped ‘mod' hairstyle, however, it is what got her all of the jobs, and it is what she has to thank for her wonderful career. The hairstyle involved all of Twiggy's hair being slicked down and side parted, to create a very neat boy-like cut.
This look has seemed to come back into style thanks to the beautiful Frankie Sandford. The Saturdays star reintroduced the legendary models' style when first stepping out as a Saturday with her modern variation of the style. Frankie let her natural brown colour shine through with a more jagged, messy-neat version of the ‘mod' look. With one side of her hair noticeably shorter than the other, the longer side was straightened and hung just below the singers jaw, while the other was neatly cropped.
The owner of one of the more infamous British hairstyles has to be David Beckham. The footballer rarely gets in wrong; however the media was full of criticism when David decided to opt a more feminine look. Becks introduced gripping hairbands to his style bank, pairing the accessory with bleached blonde locks. Slicking his hair with gel to add to the ‘wet look', David stepped out looking like he needed a shower! However, the footballer has since corrected his look and has never since been spotted looking anything less than one million percent perfect – so for his one faux pas, we forgive you!
Celebrities aren't the only ones who are allowed to have the dream like hairstyles. Don't let hair loss stop you from achieving the look that you are after! If you are suffering from any form of hair thinning or shedding, make sure you have a look at Bloomsbury Wigs today.
