Many women with blue eyes believe they don't have many colors to choose from when it comes to eyeshadow. But there are many shades that will not only compliment blue eyes but also really make them pop. In this article I'm going to help you choose the best color eyeshadow for blue eyes.

I like to look at the color wheel when I'm trying to choose the right shade of eyeshadow. Find your eye color on the wheel and look directly across. The colors opposite your eye color are ideal shades of eyeshadow. For blue eyes that means you'll want to use browns, oranges, pinks, purples, as well as neutral skin tones. You may not have thought about oranges or purples before but these colors will really make your blue eyes pop. They don't have to be bright shades either. Something subtle such as a rusty shade or orange or lilac won't be too over the top. Browns can make your blue eyes seem bluer and the white of your eyes will appear even whiter. To make your skin appear cleaner and clearer try a pink shade of eyeshadow.
Here's a guide for applying eyeshadow:

1. Place a drop of foundation on your eyelid and rub it all over with your finger, from the inner edge right to the outer corner. This will hold the eyeshadow in place.
   
2. Pick one of the colors mentioned earlier (pink, purple, brown, orange). Now find 3-4 shades of this color in your palette. They should range from a light shade to medium and also include a dark shade of the color you chose.
   
3. Use a flat brush and take the darkest color from your new palette. Apply this shade to the base of the eyelid and brush it along the eyelashes. Make sure to go from the inside corner to the outer edge.
   
4. Choose the medium shade from your palette and using a soft brush add the eyeshadow to the outer edge of the eyelid and move upwards. Continue to brush this shade into the crease of the eye to define it and really make it stand out.
   
5. Clean off the soft brush and take the lightest shade for the center of the eyelid. Blend the shades together so there's no hard lines and your look is complete.
   

Brown eyeliner goes best with blue eyes as well as brown mascara.
